NIGERIAN METEOROLOGICAL SOCIETY JOURNAL

Nigerian Meteorological Society Journal is published bi-annually in June and December by the Nigerian Meteorological Society, Lagos, Nigeria. The Nigerian Meteorological journal aims at encouraging research work and develop meteorological knowledge in all phases and applications such as Agriculture, Water Resources, Medicine, Engineering, Transportation. It also endeavour to promote and advance the professional ideals of meteorology thereby providing a forum for Scientists, technologists, decision makers (Public, Private and military), Planners and others interested in meteorology and related sciences to meet and exchange ideas. By organizing periodic conferences, the Society enables its member to keep abreast of scientific and technical developments within the profession so that they constantly strive for improvement.                         

Instructions to Authors

Submission of manuscripts

Submission of a manuscript implies that it is not being considered contemporaneously for publication elsewhere. All papers should be written in English. Paper should be sent to: Editor, All papers will be independently refereed. Three A4 size  copies should be provided. In in double-spaced on pages of uniform size, with a 1" margins on all sides. Generally, the size of the manuscript should not exceed 6000 words or about 10 printed pages. Each paper should be provided with an Abstract of about 100-150 words, reporting concisely on the purpose and result of the paper. To assist the Editors, in the selection of suitable referees, authors are requested to supply 3-4 key words. The SI system should be used for all scientific and laboratory data. If, in certain instances, it is necessary to quote other units, these should be added in parenthesis. Temperature should be given in degrees Celsius. The unit 'billion' (10 0 in America, 10 12 in Europe) is ambiguous and must be used. Tables, references and legends to illustrations should be typed on separate sheets and placed at the end of the paper. Footnotes should be avoided if they contain information  which could equally well be included in the text. Full paper should be sent in electronic format by  E mail.

References

References to publish work should be indicated at the appropriate place In the text, according to the Harvard system (i.e. using author(s) and date) with a reference list . in alphabetical order, at the end of the paper. The list should give name(s) and initial(s) of author(s) and the exact title of the paper or book. For journals, there should follows the title, volume number, year of issue and initial and final page numbers of  article. For books there should follow the name(s)  of the editor(s) (if appropriate), the name of the publisher and the town and year of publication. Where appropriate, initial and final page numbers should also be quoted. All references in this list should be indicated at some points in the text and vice versa. Unpublished data or private communications should not appear in the reference list.
